In fact, he is a storyteller.

Lingxiao has been a storyteller since childhood. All the other kids listened enthralled as he unfolded his tale: invisible cars, transformable classrooms, a tribe living underwater, etc. From that time on he began to show his precocity as he always connected the fantasies with realities.

Meanwhile, he began to tell stories by writing besides speaking. At eight his articles were published in several newspapers and magazines. Since then, he has been unstoppable in writing. He tried to express his stories by many literary genres (in Chinese): prose and short story at 12, script and modern poetry in high school, sports commentary in college, and novel and screenplay after graduate school. Recently, his first book of collected essays, Shadow without Shape (有影无形)will be published in 2016 (Chinese version).

Lingxiao started with photography in 2010 and it quickly became a passion. He believed the power of images and their abilities of storytelling – document the world around us as it actually is. “If you step back and re-look the world in a higher dimension”, as he said, “life is just like watching an image following by another.” Since he always loved to travel and be out in nature, he was drawn to Landscape photography right from the start, then Urban, Architecture, Portrait, Food and Wedding as well. He has a strong desire to celebrate the spectacular natural wonders above people and the pure/complex emotions within people, capture the unique and transitory moments, and record the dance between shadow and light.

After undergraduate study of landscape architecture and postgraduate study of architecture, Lingxiao desired to use architecture as another storyteller medium. He believes architecture is neither frozen music nor muted art. It's an art of communication. Architecture is a story indeed, which is told through its form, space, function and materials. It is a story of effort and struggle on connecting the fantasies with realities. In each of his project or project he involved, Lingxiao tried to use design thinking from the initial desire, rather than reuse the tradition as it was before. The practice of architecture is like a multi-layer vector matrix, it need to combine all the abilities of writing, painting, photographing and imaging, in order to eventually tell a complexity story from simplicity, and an extraordinary story from ordinary.

Telling stories is just his first step.  "Imagining two scenes: music is produced by playing piano and a father points the moon to his son by his arm", Lingxiao tried to explained his opinion that if architecture is the piano and poetry is the arm, what each of them want to express, is not the piano but the music, not the arm but the moon. So does each story Lingxiao wants to tell. To touch/shake you deep with the echo inside the stories, that is his ultimate goal.
